Intern Responsibilities

As part of the Event Operations team, the Event Operations Intern will help staff plan, implement, and execute the 2021 AAU Junior Olympic Games. This intern will also help with any additional plans and/or tasks for other events.

While this position is unpaid, I have gained so much valuable experience. I have made a lot of new connections that will no doubt help me further my career in the sports industry. This company has truly allowed me to determine that I want to continue working in this industry and I cannot be more excited.

 

Responsibilities for this internship position include the following:

  • Assist with event planning and operations

  • Participate in meetings and events

  • Vendor research, outreach and database maintenance

  • Equipment inventory and storage maintenance

  • On-site event support to include set-up and teardown

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications for this internship position include the following:

  • Eligible candidates must be enrolled as a full-time college/university student and receive academic credit for the internship.

  • Applicant must be available for a minimum of 35 hours per week; during event dates; work long days including some weekends and evenings.

  • Lift up to 45 pounds repeatedly, work outdoors and stand for long periods of time.

  • Must have reliable transportation

2021 AAU Junior Olympic Games

This summer, I was able to be a part of the planning and implementation of the 55th AAU Junior Olympic Games. This event consisted of 4 different venues to host 10 different sports. I was assigned to Turner Stadium which hosted the Track & Field and Multievents portion where we saw over 11,000 athletes compete!
